Issue Details

I need official National Instruments documentation of memory capacity and volatility for static DIO and TIO counter/timer devices.

Solution

Here is a list of the current information on some of our static DIO devices. The list below contains the types of memory in each device, the amount, and whether or not the information stored in that memory is retained. Volatile memory loses its contents when the device is powered off while nonvolatile memory retains its contents when the device is powered off.

USB-6525 :
Storage TypeSizeVolatilityAccess Restrictions
Flash Memory16 kBnonvolatile for configurationSoftware protected. No mechanism provided for writing to the EEPROM through the user API. No user data is stored in the EEPROM.

PCI-6503 :
PCI-6503 Letter of Volatility

PXI-6508 :
PXI-6508 Letter of Volatility

DAQpad-6508 :
Storage TypeSizeVolatilityAccess Restrictions
EEPROM2 kbnonvolatile for configurationNot write protected, but there is no mechanism provided for writing to the EEPROM through the user API. No user data is stored in the EEPROM.
No user data is stored in the device after power is removed.

PCI/PXI-6509 :
PCI-6509 Letter of Volatility
PXI-6509 Letter of Volatility

PCIe-6509 :
PCIe-6509 Letter of Volatility

USB-6509 :
USB-6509 Letter of Volatility

PCI/PXI-651X :
NI PXI-6511/6512 Letter of Volatility
Storage TypeSizeVolatilityAccess Restrictions
Flash memory1 MbNonvolatileNot write protected. The user may store power-up states for output channels inside this memory device. User settings may be cleared through the API. The remaining space inside this memory device is used for configuration information and is not user accessible.

PCI-6520/PCI-6521/PXI-6521 :
Storage TypeSizeVolatilityAccess Restrictions
Flash memory1 MbNonvolatileNot write protected. The user may store power-up states for output channels inside this memory device. User settings may be cleared through the API. The remaining space inside this memory device is used for configuration information and is not user accessible.

PCI/PXI-6527 :
NI PXI-6527 Letter of Volatility
Storage TypeSizeVolatilityAccess Restrictions
EEPROM64 kbnonvolatile for configurationSoftware protected. No mechanism provided for writing to the EEPROM through the user API. No user data is stored in the EEPROM.
EEPROM256 kbnonvolatileHardware protected

PCI/PXI-6528 :
Storage TypeSizeVolatilityAccess Restrictions
Flash memory1 MbNonvolatileNot write protected. The user may store power-up states for output channels inside this memory device. User settings may be cleared through the API. The remaining space inside this memory device is used for configuration information and is not user accessible.

PCI-6601/PCI-6602/PXI-6602/PXI-6608 :
PCI-6601/6602 Letter of Volatility
PXI-6608 Letter of Volatility

PCI-DIO-96 :
Storage TypeSizeVolatilityAccess Restrictions
EEPROM64 kbnonvolatile for configurationNot write protected, but there is no mechanism provided for writing to the EEPROM through the user API. No user data is stored in the EEPROM.
No user data is stored in the device after power is removed.
