Issue Details

I just downloaded some NI software that is distributed in the form of an ISO (.iso) or a BIN (.bin) file. What is this file type and how do I use it?

Solution

An ISO or BIN file is an image of a complete CD or DVD. It can either be installed on the machine it was downloaded on, or it can be written to disc for installation on other systems. NI distributes offline installers and some software on the web in this form, but these files are not specific to NI.

ISO files can be mounted natively in Windows by right clicking on the file and then choosing the "mount" option.

Third party software is needed to mount BIN files and use them on your machine. Third party software can also be used for ISO files. NI does not have recommendations for a specific vendor.
