Issue Details

  • I am getting the following error when importing an Arduino template in Multisim™ using the Merge database function
Problem: Failed to open the database [User Database].
The file format/version does not match, and cannot be merged.
If the database is from an earlier version, use Convert Database.

Solution

There are several solutions for this error:
  • Be sure to have Circuit Design Suite (Multisim™ and Ultiboard) version 13.0 (or later)
  • If the problem persists, since you already have the correct version, check if you have access to the Database .
  • Check if you are able to access to your User Database and if you have any components in it by opening Place Component (right-click or <Ctrl-W>), then in the Database dropbox select User Database
  • When Multisim™ asks you for the database file, you should select UsrComp.usr.
  • Keep in mind that if the Multisim™ version does not match the template version, you will have to use the Convert database option which works the same way as the Merge database. You can find this in Tools>>Database>>Convert database.
  • If the problem still persists: the conversion from one version of Multisim™ to another appears to generate a new file and places it deep in the windows file structure. Find it by searching  in C: drive for the .usr file extension and then correlated the file creation time. Move it to your Multisim™ working folder and then follow the instructions for merging the library .

Additional Information

Furthermore if the board outline in the shield template, they appear to be individual pieces of graphic objects and not the board outline set the global file path in version 14 as: Options>>Global Options>>Path>>Database files>>User database. Edit it to new location.
