Issue Details

I am trying to activate my NI software online through the NI Licensing Wizard. When I try to log into my NI account, I receive the following error message:

Connection error. Check your internet connection and try again. If this problem persists, contact NI support.

This is the first time I'm getting this error in spite of being connected to the internet. How can I resolve this error?

To resolve this error, kindly have a try on the following workarounds:
  • You must allow specific NI URLs and their corresponding ports access through your firewall. This will allow communication to the NI servers to take place.
  • Disconnect your system from internet, reboot and connect again.
  • Repair each of the software that gives this error by following the steps from here.
  • Repair NI MAX and NI System Web Server from NI Package Manager by following the below steps:
  1. Open NI Package Manager
  2. Go to the Installed tab
  3. Check the Products only box
  4. Search for NI Measurement & Automation Explorer if you can't find NI MAX and check the box to it's left
  5. Uncheck the Products only box
  6. Search for NI System Web Server and check the box to it's left
  7. Click on the green Repair button

Additional Information

If you cannot allow the above-mentioned URLs through your firewall, please use NI Product Activation to generate offline activation codes and follow the steps detailed here to activate your software. If you have any further issues, please contact NI Technical Support.
