ELVIS II Top Boards and ELVIS III Compatibility

Issue Details

We have recently upgraded our ELVIS II devices to ELVIS III. When we try to connect and run a top board we used with ELVIS II, such as Quanser QNET 2.0 Rotary Pendulum Board or Emona DATEx Telecommunications Board, we get errors and are unable to run LabVIEW code.

Solution

ELVIS III has a different internal architecture compared to ELVIS II. For this reason, some devices, such as Quanser QNET 2.0 Rotary Pendulum Board or Emona DATEx Telecommunications Board, which were developed for ELVIS II will not be compatible. This can be solved by:

  • Upgrading ELVIS II Boards to ELVIS III ones;
  • Using the older ELVIS II;
  • Creating LabVIEW software compatible with ELVIS III, which NI cannot provide.

Additional Information

Quanser QNET 2.0 Rotary Pendulum Board can be upgraded to ELVIS III compatible Quanser Controls Board, and Emona DATEx Telecommunications Board can be upgraded to Emona Communications Board .
