Issue Details

I would like to adapt my MXI system from a Gen1 x1 to a Gen2 x8 interface system while using the same chassis. Is this possible?

Solution

It is not possible to adapt an MXI System from a Gen1 x1 to a Gen2 x8 interface while using the same chassis. An integrated MXI connection that supports a Gen 1 connection has different connectors than a MXI connection supported by a Gen 2 connection. This is because the throughput needed for each approach differs from one type to another.

Additional Information

You can check the type of connection needed for your card in the User Manual for your card. For example, when using MXI-Express Gen II x8 you can see the cables supported for the devices in the following image.

When using MXI-Express Gen I x1 , you can see the cables supported for the devices in the following image.

For MXI-EXpress x1 products, we support two types of cable of various lengths. You can read about the cables available in the following image.
