Is There any Anti-Virus Recommendation for PXI Controllers?

Issue Details

• IT policies require that I install anti-virus, anti-malware or security software on my Windows PXI controller. Are there any limitations I need to be aware of?
• I have an ATE test system with a PXI controller and we are wondering if there is a recommendation for the type of anti-virus software we put on the system.

Solution

NI does not have a specific anti-virus software that we recommend using for any PXI system.

If the software is compatible with the PXI's operating system, it can be installed. NI is not responsible for the ways in which the 3rd party software interacts with the PXI.

If using 3rd party security software, the following guidelines should be considered:

• Ensure that the software does not block DMA transactions.
• Ensure that the software does not block required firewall ports.
  • Depending on the NI software you wish to install, refer to the relevant section in Configuring Software and Hardware Firewalls to Support NI Products.

It has been observed that some anti-virus software can cause connectivity issues affecting applications using OPC servers.
