Issue Details

I am running the NI 9265 Getting Started.lvproj example and am getting Error 65542 indicating that there is an open current loop like below. What does this mean and how can I fix it?

Error 65542 occurred at an unidentified location
Possible reason(s):
One or more channels have detected an open current loop. Check the module connections.

Solution

An open current loop means that a load has not been detected across the current output channel of your NI 9265 module. Check that the connections are secure and connected to the correct pins on the module. If you do not have a load but would still like to test your code, you can connect a resistor to the channel you will be testing.

The connected load must be less than 600 Ohm for this module, as specified in the NI 9265 Getting Started Guide.

Additional Information

This is a safety feature of NI 9265 current output module. Whenever the module detects an open loop, it will generate an interrupt in software and zeroing the output.
