Issue Details

I have installed NI Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) on Windows Server 2008 R2. Why is it that when I click to view different MAX categories, the windows do not appear, or I am continually told to Install Microsoft Silverlight?

Solution

NI Software Support for Windows Server 2008 R2 requires disabling Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration (IE ESC). This feature is enabled by default in Windows Server 2008 R2. In order to view MAX windows properly, IE ESC can be disabled by following the steps below.

  1. Open Server Manager from the Windows Taskbar. This can also be done from the Windows Start Menu Search Box by entering Server Manager and pressing Enter.
  2. In Server Manager, navigate to Security Information under the Server Summary section. Choose Configure IE ESC.

  1. In the Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration dialog box, select Off under both Administrators and Users to disable IE ESC.

NOTE: If Internet Explorer was open while changing these configuration settings, it may need to be restarted before these changes take effect.
