"NI mx LabVIEW Control Installer" Missing When Building Installer

  • TestStand

Driver

  • NI-DAQmx

Issue Details

When I try to build my installer, I get a pop up saying: Some installers you selected for this installer are not available on this computer.  The specific installer it is missing is the "NI mx LabVIEW Control Installer". How do I fix this issue so I can build my installer?

Solution

The NI mx LabVIEW Control Installer is part of the NI-DAQmx driver. The installer cannot be found under a defined path, which is the reason for this error. To solve the problem please do the following steps:
  1. Please try to uninstall your DAQmx installation, then install using the offline installer, instead of the online installer. You can get the installer here: NI-DAQmx Download. The offline installer is available under the Download button, as shown on the screenshot:

  1. If this doesn't work, please go to C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\MDF\ProductCache and move all entries related to NI-DAQmx in another self-created folder (backup)
  2. Go also to C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\NI Package Manager\packages and do the same
  3. Please open NI Package Manager and repair the NI-DAQmx installation
  4. Start the build process again.
  5. Clear the PC -
    1. 1. Remove all NI apps using NI package manager

      2. Uninstall NI package manager

      3. deleted following folders:
      C:\National Instruments Downloads

      C:\ProgramData\National Instruments

      C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Local\National Instruments

      C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Local\National_Instruments

      C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments

      C:\Program Files\National Instruments

      4. cleaned my registry with ccleaner - https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/download

      5. reinstalled labview and then DAQmx

Additional Information

This issue can happen when building a TestStand Deployment as well, and the solution applies in the same way as it is related to the NI-DAQmx installation.
