Routing the PXI Backplane Trigger Lines to PFI Channels using X-Series Hardware

Updated Nov 30, 2023

I have an application where I need a trigger signal from the backplane output routed outside of the PXI chassis. However, I don't own a PXI Chassis with a trigger output connector on the front panel. What can I do?

Depending on your timing requirements concerning the trigger routing you have two options:
  1. Use a Timing and Synchronisation device like the PXIe-6674T, which can route the trigger lines to their PFI outputs directly. This routing is using a direct connection.
  2. Use a X-series device and work with the DAQmx Connect Terminals VI. Specify the source as the trigger line, and the destination as the PFI line. This is not an asynchronous route, any triggers will get re-buffered based on the DAQ cards 100MHz clock.
