Issue Details

I am going to synchronize the acquisition from my other devices with my NI 5732 module using a sinusoidal signal source and routing it into CLK IN, but I'm not sure if this is feasible. How can I check if the clock source can be an analog signal, or does it have to be a digital or TTL signal?

Solution

You should be able to use the sinusoidal source as a CLK IN for your synchronization. This is validated in the NI 5731/5732/5733/5734R User Guide and Specifications in Table 15. NI 5731/5732/5733/5734 Clock Sources on page 37. Should the CLK IN have required a digital signal, you would see some commentary about the input voltage adhering to a certain protocol, such as TTL. As long as the signal meets the voltage range and duty cycle, you can use this for synchronization.
