Is there a way to read the flash memory in cRIO-904x before and after an erase to prove the erase process worked?

I can use the to erase the flash memory but I need a way to prove that it has been erased.

There isn't any existing method for explicitly reading back the flash to confirm that it is erased. Both the RIO Device Setup tool or the "Erase Firmware " button in MAX will erase the firmware, but you cannot explicitly read back the flash in those tools (or any other tools)

We should be able to trust these tools to erase the flash but if you need to double-check that things are erased, our best option is to download a blank bitfile (or some other dummy bitfile) to the target. A good option for a dummy bitfile is one that flashes the USER FPGA LED. This way you can manually confirm that the dummy bitfile is now running at startup instead of their application bitfile
