Issue Details

  • I want to access a list of previous data entries in LabVIEW.
  • Can I use auto-complete to find a previous data entry in LabVIEW?
  • How can I create a search box that acts similarly to Google Search?
  • How can I access a history of data entries using a drop-down menu?

To store a history of data entries, a Combo Box can be used.

A Combo Box is a type of string control that is able to store a list of previously entered strings (figure 1), similar to a search history. An entry can be found by clicking on the drop-down arrow and manually scrolling through the entries. Alternatively, by typing directly into the Combo Box, the control is capable of auto-completing to match other stored entries (figure 2).

An example of how to use a Combo box for things like previous data entries and auto-complete can be found here: Combo Box Creates "Search Engine"-Like Search-History and Auto-Complete in LabVIEW.
