Error -200077 During Bridge Configuration for the NI 9237

Issue Details

When I am trying to calibrate the NI MAX task for a strain measurement I receive Error -200077 Requested value is not a supported value for this property and if I take measurements they are way off. How can I fix this?

Solution

This error occurs when the measurement is not in range of what is expected for the bridge configuration, in order to ensure the task works efficiently make sure you check:
  • You have the correct wiring for your bridge setup. You can consult the Connecting Strain Gauges and Shunt Resistors to the NI-9237 document if unsure of how it should be wired.
  • Verify the cables are in a good state and working.
  • Try in a different channel to verify if the module is working correctly.
  • Contact your manufacturer to confirm the appropriate values are configured in the task.
Note:  The NI 9237 is a full or half bridge completion module.  If using a quarter bridge based sensor, then you will need to externally create a half bridge or use the NI 9944 or NI 9945 Quarter Bridge Completion Accessory.  See the NI 9237 Operating Instructions and Specifications in the Related Links section for additional information.

Additional Information

The NI 9237 is a ratiometric data acquisition device that reads a mV/V value from a transducer, where mV/V is the ratio of output voltage to input voltage, i.e. excitation.  Typically these sensors are strain gauge based sensors that apply a voltage to an internal strain gauge.  During use the resistance changes based on external conditions and the new voltage value is returned by the transducer.   

The most common configuration in strain gauge sensors is a full wheatstone bridge configuration with a bridge resistance of 350 Ohms.  Contact your transducer manufacturer for detailed specs.
