Error 401 When Deleting an Asset in My InsightCM Configuration

Issue Details

I am accessing my InsightCM server through the InsightCM Web Application on a different computer. I am able to create new assets in my Asset Configuration page, but when I try to delete an asset I get the following error message:

URL: /Equipment.svc/assetNodes
Method: DELETE
Status code: 401


On the computer where InsightCM is installed:
  1. Go to Start»Control Panel.
  2. Open Administrative Tools.
  3. Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager. IIS should be enabled by default on Windows Server computers. If you are using Windows 7 or Windows 10, you may need to enable this feature.
  4. In IIS Manager, navigate in the Connections tree to [Your computer name]»Sites and click on your InsightCM version, then double-click Authentication.

  1. Ensure that the following Authentication methods are enabled:
    • Anonymous Authentication
    • Basic Authentication
    • Forms Authentication

Additional Information

If you are still seeing the same error after making these changes, there may be something else that is blocking the request from the client. Work with your IT department to make sure that nothing is block DELETE HTTP methods from reaching the server computer.
