Which NI Real-Time Targets Support Embedded UI?

Operating System

  • NI Linux Real-Time

Issue Details

I have heard that certain NI targets support the Embedded UI feature, meaning you can host a LabVIEW user interface directly on the controller, without having to send the data back to a Windows HMI. Which are the Real-Time targets that have this support for Embedded UI?

Solution

Embedded UI enables a rich HMI experience on certain NI Linux Real-Time targets. To support Embedded UI, real-time targets must have both of the following:

AND

  • Targets must have a Mini DisplayPort, DisplayPort, VGA port, USB-C port with a Mini DisplayPort symbol next to it, or other compatible display connector onboard.

Additional Information

  • Please note that the Embedded UI is only supported on NI Linux RT Targets. Other Real-Time operating systems like Pharlap ETS are not supported.
  • As long as you can see Embedded UI option in NI MAX, you can use this functionality. You can for example implement Embedded UI on standalone cDAQ systems like cDAQ-9137 if it has a Linux operating system.
  • Note that sometimes localization settings will conflict with the Embedded UI, for example you cannot use embedded UI when it's set to "Japanese".
  • While cRIO-905X models do have x64 chipsets, these specific models do not have integrated graphics so embedded UI is not an option on these targets.
