Issue Details

I have commanded a straight-line move with the SoftMotion functions, but I need to change the velocity while the move is operating. How can I do this?

Solution

If performing an absolute or relative straight-line move, one can use either a blend move or velocity override; velocity straight-line moves, require a velocity override.

Blend Move:

A blend move will superimpose the velocity profile of two moves to maintain continuous motion.

See Related Links for additional documentation on blend moves. In the LabVIEW Example Finder, (Help»Find Examples…)An example can be located through the following path:
Browse»Hardware Input and Output»Motion Control»SoftMotion»Express VI»Single Axis»Blending Multiple Axis Straight Line Moves.lvproj

Velocity Override

A velocity override can be commanded with either the “Write” SoftMotion Express VI, or with a SoftMotion Invoke Node through the “Write Velocity Override” method.

See Related Links for additional documentation on the Write Express VI and Write Velocity Override method. An example can be located through the LabVIEW Example Finder:
