Issue Details

I have a third party USB to GPIB cable that I am trying to use in LabVIEW. It does not show up as a GPIB device in NI Measurement and Automation Explorer (NI MAX) and I cannot open VISA Test Panels.

Solution

Ensure that the appropriate IEEE 488 driver is installed for your device. Contact the manufacturer of your specific USB-GPIB cable for these drivers.

Even if the manufacturer says the device does not require a driver, realize that to interface with NI MAX, the device will need a driver, as even our GPIB devices require our NI 488.2 GPIB Driver.

If the GPIB device is made by Keysight, enable GPIB cards for 488 programs in Keysight Connection Expert and enable the NiVisaTulip.dll.

Additional Information

The NI-488.2 driver is only designed to work for National Instruments hardware.
