Why Is My Multisim Blue License Status Unactivated or Unlicensed?

How do I reactivate my NI Multisim Component Evaluator Mouser Electronics Edition after it displays a warning that the license is unactivated/unlicensed?


Multisim BLUE has been discontinued. Below is a copy of an enquiring email from the technical support staff at Mouser, who were the company who supported Multisim BLUE. 

Thanks for contacting Mouser Technical Support regarding MultiSIM Blue, and MultiSIM Blue Premium. 

We regret to inform you that National Instruments discontinued support of all custom versions of Multisim, including Multisim BLUE, at the end of 2017.  We extended the support contract through Q1 of 2019, but as of March 31, 2019, all licenses for Multisim BLUE have been terminated and both Multisim BLUE and Ultiboard software will no longer launch.

Why did Mouser discontinue Multisim Blue? 

It was National Instrument’s decision to discontinue support for Multisim Blue, not Mouser.  We were notified at the end of 2017, but continued support for our customers until now.  

Are my Multisim Blue projects lost? 

Schematics and boards created with Multisim Blue can be opened using the other versions of NI’s Multisim, though parts from the Mouser library may be lost.  NI Multisim can be purchased through the National Instruments website.  

Can I open Multisim Blue schematics and PCB files with another tool? 

Unfortunately not.  The only way to continue to use existing Multisim Blue files is through NI Multisim.  

What about Multisim Blue Premium? 

Mouser discontinued sales of Multisim Blue Premium once notified of the NI’s decision.  All one year Premium licenses are now expired and cannot be renewed through Mouser.  NI Multisim can be purchased through the National Instruments website, though there is not an annual subscription option like Multisim Blue Premium.
