Issue Details

I am using an NI Touch Screen Monitor TSM-1012/1015/1017.  The TSM is connected to my CompactRIO (cRIO) that has Embedded UI (cRIO-903x/904x).  The TSM displays the Embedded UI as expected, but does not seem to have the touch functionality.  When I touch the screen, nothing happens.  There is no click or dragging behavior from my finger.

Solution

  1. Make sure that you have Enable Embedded UI selected in the System Settings tab of your cRIO target.  Save your settings and restart your cRIO target if you did not already have Enable Embedded UI selected.
  2. Make sure that you have a USB A to USB A cable connection between your cRIO and your TSM . Anything other than a USB-A to USB-A cable may cause unexpected behaviors or not work at all.
  3. Try a different USB-A to-A cable.
  4. Perform a factory reset by going to the display panel keypad settings (System - Reset).

Additional Information

The NI TSM-101x monitor requires a USB-A to USB-A connection for touch-screen modality on NI Linux Real-Time targets. If you only have the DisplayPort, DVI-D, or VGA port connected between the TSM and your cRIO, you will not have the touch capability of the TSM.

Note that even though some cRIOs specify USB-C ports as "display ports," the USB-A port should still be used for connection with a NI TSM.
