Issue Details

I am using dynamic signal acquisition (DSA) modules in my cRIO-9035 (Sync) or cRIO-9039 (Sync). I want to synchronize acquisition with modules in other Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) devices.

Solution

The cRIO-9035 (Sync) and cRIO-9039 (Sync) do not have capability to discipline the onboard clock of a DSA module. Therefore, a DSA module in a cRIO-9035/9 (Sync) will not be synchronized with the chassis/network time. This capability has been introduced in later TSN devices such cDAQ 9185/9 and cRIO-904x .

The only way to synchronize data acquired over DSA modules from multiple cRIO-9035/9 (Sync) chassis is to do post process re-sampling. You can take advantage of the time FPGA register on the cRIO-9035/9 (Sync) to timestamp each acquired data point and then use this information to do post process analysis.
The post process analysis must also account for a DSA start up delay if dealing with different module versions. The start-up delay for a module is listed in the user manual of that module.
