Issue Details

I am building a TestStand installer using TestStand Deployment Utility and am getting the following error:

LabVIEW returned a linker error but did not return any missing VIs. This can mean that the missing files are RC files or other similar dependencies. Mass compile your top-level files and resolve the errors reported. If the problem persists contact National Instruments for support.

Solution

1. Mass compile the LabVIEW project files.
2. From LabVIEW project, Right-Click Project >> Find Missing Items.
3. From LabVIEW project, build a source distribution and more meaningful errors will be revealed.

The VIs causing the error may also be narrowed down by not including VIs in the build (half at a time). These VIs can then be analyzed more closely to determine which library files or other dependencies could be missing or corrupt.

Additional Information

Missing or corrupt files should be addressed so that installer can build successfully. Often, TestStand Deployment Utility will include entire library and not just the components being used, so there are cases in which a LabVIEW executable will build properly from LabVIEW, but the TestStand installer will not.
