Why Can't I Activate LabVIEW Student Edition on My New Computer?

Issue Details

I had LabVIEW Student Edition previously installed and working as expected on my previous computer. Now, when I try to install LabVIEW on my new computer using the same serial number I get an activation error. How do I activate the software on my new computer? 

Solution

Make sure that the version of LabVIEW installed on your computer is the same version that your serial number corresponds to. Try installing the software from the CD to ensure that that you're installing the compatible version of the software; especially if the software is a few years old. Generally,  National Instruments only keeps the past 3 versions of software available for download on the website.

Additional Information

Serial numbers are version specific, so a serial number corresponding to Multisim 14.0 will not activate Multisim 14.1.
