Monitoring EtherCAT Traffic between Master and Slave Devices

Issue Details

Is there an NI tool to monitor EtherCAT traffic between EtherCAT masters and slaves? Something similar to the Distributed Systems Manager (DSM) for monitoring CompactRIO (cRIO) resources and I/O?

Solution

There is not a special NI tool or application for monitoring EtherCAT traffic.  

If you need to monitor EtherCAT packets and communication between your EtherCAT devices, you can use Wireshark to Capture EtherCAT Network Packets.

Additional Information

If you are having trouble in communicating between your EtherCAT devices, make sure that you have set up your EtherCAT devices properly and are using a supported network topology.
