Issue Details

MY PXI Real-Time (RT) controller was working normally. Now, I am getting the following error continually on the monitor, even after rebooting the system:

Welcome to LabVIEW Real-Time XX.X.X
Reliance v2.10 Build 1053: Assertion failure in module rlbuffer.c line 1735 (DCL = 351)
System error KERNEL 446901: Bad exception disposition.

Solution

  1. Connect controller directly to PC via Ethernet cable (not through a switch).
  2. Use LabVIEW RT Configuration Switches to boot the controller in Safe Mode. This can be found in the User Manual and Specifications for your PXI controller.
  3. Once the controller is showing as connected in NI MAX, format the disk and reinstall software to it. Instructions can be found in this article: How Do I Format My Real-Time Target and Reinstall the Software?

In the event that you cannot get the controller properly connected, you may have to use the Boot Utility USB Drive method, which is described in How Do I Format my PXI Real-Time Controller with a Utility USB Drive?

Additional Information

These errors are linked to software corruption and are usually corrected by formatting the disk of the controller and reinstalling software to the controller.
