Issue Details

I am following the calibration procedure for the NI 9219. When calibrating for the thermocouple mode, I noticed that there is no use of a reference temperature in the calibration procedure. Shouldn't I need a reference temperature to be able to accurately calibrate my device?

Solution

The NI 9219 and some other devices with a thermocouple mode use a Cold Junction Compensation (CJC) in order to read a reference temperature which is used by the device to calculate the temperature reading on thermocouple. With this reference temperature available, it is not necessary to have an additional reference temperature as part of the calibration procedure.
