MXI PCI(e) Card Works in One PCI(e) Slot but Not Another

Issue Details

When I put my PCI(e) MXI card in one slot of my computer, everything works as expected. However, when I use a different slot in the same computer my system does not show up correctly. Why does this happen?

There are various possible causes of this behavior.
  1. First, and most commonly, your computer may utilize multiple PCIe root buses. In these sitations, certain slots will enumerate devices on PCIe roots that do not have the space available to configure the system correctly. To check your system's PCI/PCIe resource capabilities, see Determining the Number and Range of PCI/PCI Express Root Bus Devices
  2. A second, yet less common cause of this behavior is the possibility of having different power specifications on individual slots which can cause unexpected behavior of the MXI system. For this reason you should always try different slots in your computer when you are troubleshooting a MXI system.
  3. If you have tried changing slots and you have determined that there isn't a root bus limitation or power issue, but you are still experiencing unexpected behavior, please see the MXI Compatibility and Connectivity Troubleshooting Guide for additional troubleshooting steps.
