Error 1612 When Installing or Uninstalling NI Software

Issue Details

  • While attempting to uninstall NI software, Error 1612 occurs.
  • I get the following error message:

  • An NI Package Manager installation is interrupted by an MSI error. With the MSI log enabled the following error is recorded in the agentsErrorLog.txt: MsiInstallProduct returned 1612

Solution

  1. Repair any NI software that is producing Error 1612. Detailed instructions on how to repair NI software can be found in Repair Software In NI Package Manager (NIPM) or for software not using the NI Package Manager: Uninstall or Repair NI Software or Drivers in Windows
  2. After you finish the repair, attempt the installation or uninstallation again.
  3. If the issue persists, contact the technical support of NI .

Additional Information

This issue is caused by a corrupt Windows Installer cache on the computer. The repair operation should restore the damaged Windows Installer cache.
