Issue Details

  • While using my NI PXIe-4480 I attempt to setup a task with voltage excitation, but I receive error -200077 Requested value is not a supported value for this property. The property value may be invalid because it conflicts with another property
  • Reviewing the device specifications I now see that the value I was specifying was outside of the supported values. However, the error message is reporting different supported values than the specifications document.
  • Does the specifications document or this error message list the correct supported excitation values?

Solution

  • The voltage excitation values listed in the NI 4480/4481 Specifications document are the typical values.
  • As per this document the supported voltage excitation values are 0V, 10V, 25V, and an adjustable range of 9.5V to 12V.
  • If you specify voltage excitation values that are not supported by the hardware/software it may be coerced to a supported value. The following table describes the hardware behavior based on the selected excitation voltage value:
Specified Excitation Value(s)Device Excitation Behavior

 <0V

 Error -200077
 0V 0V
 0V < X < 9.5V Error -200077
 9.5V < X < 11.98V Coerced to discrete value in this range
 11.98V < X < 25V 10V
 ≥25V 25V

Additional Information

  • The DAQmx Channel Property Node AI.Excite.Val property (Analog Input»General Properties»Signal Conditioning»Excitation) can be read to determine the actual excitation voltage value the hardware is being set to.
