How to Find a Service ID for NI Software

Issue Details

I need to generate a service request but I don't know the Service ID nor Serial Number associated with my company, Enterprise Agreement (EA) or Volume License Agreement (VLA). Where can I find or locate the Service ID or Serial Number for my NI software, toolkit, module or add-ons?

Solution

Finding my NI Service ID

An NI Service ID can be found in different locations based on the organization contract. Follow the steps below for the situations relevant for your company or organization.

 

Connected to a License Server

  • Open NI License Manager >> Network Licenses, under the server information, you will find your Service ID.

Disconnected License

  • Navigate to: C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\License Manager\Licenses
  • Open the disconnected license file with notepad 
  • Search for CONTRACT_ID

 

If neither of the above situations apply, please contact your software administrator. 

  • Software administrators can launch NI Volume License Manager, once launched the Service ID is displayed under General Information in the Status tab

Additional Information

In order to generate a service request, you must have an active Standard Service Program (SSP). The SSP could be included if you are under a Multi-Seat License Program such as Volume License Agreement (VLA), Enterprise Agreement (EA), or Academic Site License (ASL). To activate your SSP you must use the Serial Number or Service ID associated with your NI Software. 

If you are a member of the NI Multi-Seat License Program, you will need to locate your Service ID. Organizations that have purchased a NI Multi-Seat License Program will designate a software administrator to oversee the management and installation of NI software at their organization. The software administrator will be able to provide you with your Service ID. Entering the Service ID into the field in Service Request Manager will be necessary for you to access support.
