Issue Details

Can I use the NI roboRIO if I am not part of the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC)?  If so, what software do I need to use it?

Solution

The roboRIO is used in the FIRST Robotics Competition, but its use is not limited to FRC.  It has a wide range of uses in controls and mechatronics industry applications as well.  Your roboRIO should come with the roboRIO software bundle that contains the required and optional software for the roboRIO.  Below are the necessary and optional software for use with the roboRIO.

Additional Information

The FRC software for the roboRIO is specific to FRC hardware.  If you are in FRC, you must use the FRC software in the FRC Update Suite to compete in FRC events. If you are not in FRC, you should use the software provided in the roboRIO software bundle
