Package Not Compatible Error in VI Package Manager

Issue Details

• When trying to download a package through VI Package Manager on a Windows 10 operating system, I get the following error message:

This package is not compatible with your operating system or any LabVIEW version installed on your computer.

• When using VI Package Manager 2013 and I try to install a package built with VI Package Manager 2014, I get the following error message:

​This package is not compatible with any LabVIEW version on this computer.

Solution

• The issue that Windows 10 might have when it comes to administrative rights in software installation. This can happen even if the User Account is designated as the 'Admin'. 
  • To download the package as normal, make sure VI Package Manager is being run as administrator. For that:
    1.  Open VI Package Manager from the Start menu.
    2.  Right click the app.
    3. Select Run as administrator.

• The non-recognition of the VI Package Manager 2014 package format by VI Package Manager 2013. With that, packages built with VIPM 2014 can only be installed on VIPM 2014 or newer.
  • Download the most recent version of VI Package Manager for free and try the package install again. In case there is no possibility or intent to upgrade to VI Package Manager 2014, the package's VIP file(s) must be rebuilt in VI Package Manager 2013 for such compatibility.
