Error Package Not Compatible in JKI VI Package Manager

Issue Details

• When trying to download a package through JKI VI Package Manager on a Windows 10 operating system, I get the following error message:

This package is not compatible with your operating system or any LabVIEW version installed on your computer.

• When using JKI VI Package Manager 2013 and I try to install a package built with JKI VI Package Manager 2014, I get the following error message:

​This package is not compatible with any LabVIEW version on this computer.

Solution

This error can be caused by either:

• The issue that Windows 10 might have when it comes to administrative rights in software installation. This can happen even if the User Account is designated as the 'Admin'. 
  • To download the package as normal, make sure JKI VI Package Manager is being run as administrator. For that:
    1.  Open JKI VI Package Manager from the Start menu.
    2.  Right click the app.
    3. Select Run as administrator.

• The non-recognition of the JKI VI Package Manager 2014 package format by JKI VI Package Manager 2013. With that, packages built with JKI VIPM 2014 can only be installed on JKI VIPM 2014 or newer.
  • Download the most recent version of JKI VI Package Manager for free  and try the package install again. In case there is no possibility or intent to upgrade to JKI VI Package Manager 2014, the package's VIP file(s) must be rebuilt in JKI VI Package Manager 2013 for such compatibility. 

Additional Information

Whenever building a package in JKI VI Package Manager 2014, it is recommended the addition of a note stating that JKI VI Package Manager 2014 is required to install the package.
