Issue Details

I need to locate the Installation Log Files for all NI software I have installed on my computer.  Where can I find them?

Solution

Starting in August 2008, all software products released by NI generate Installation Log Files during installation.  The location of these log files will vary based on the OS used. 

Windows 7 and Later
C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\Installation Logs

Windows Vista
C:\Users\All Users\National Instruments\Installation Logs

Windows XP
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\National Instruments\Installation Logs

Note: In Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10,  C:\ProgramData is a hidden folder. Enter the file path directly into the Windows Explorer address bar as shown in the image below.
 

Additional Information

The Installation Log files described in this KB contain installation summary details and are not the same as log files created from using the setup.exe/log command.
