  • NI-VISA 16.0

Other

  • Linux CentOS 7

Issue Details

I cannot get any NI USB device to work on a Linux computer. It works perfectly fine on a Windows computer. Is this device not supported on Linux CentOS?

Solution

NI Serial hardware is not supported on any Linux OS. The NI Serial driver is what allows NI hardware to be recognized as a serial port on an OS. There are no versions of this driver that are supported on a Linux computer.

We do however, have NI VISA drivers that are compatible on Linux computers. What this means is that other third party devices that are able to be recognized as serial ports on Linux computers and are VISA compliant can be used in NI software.
