Solution

To build a LabVIEW executable for Linux, you will need the Linux app builder. This app builder is only compatible with Linux versions of LabVIEW Professional Development System, so you will need LabVIEW Professional Development System installed on a Linux system to build this program.

Your VI from a Windows system can be moved to the Linux version of LabVIEW and opened to build it in the new system.

Certain proprietary Windows functions or drivers that can be called by LabVIEW will not move over due to not being compatible with the Linux system. For more information about porting your VI, please visit the Porting VIs among Platforms page. 

Additional Information

  • The applications builder on a Windows machine is only able to build applications for other Windows machines and cannot build programs for other operating systems. 
  • When moving to Linux, consult the LabVIEW and Linux OS Compatibility  page to check if your version of Linux is officially supported by NI.
