Build a LabVIEW Program for Linux

Operating System

Issue Details

  • Can I build a LabVIEW program from my Windows machine for a Linux system?
  • Can I use my Windows VI to build a program for Linux?
  • What do I need to build a LabVIEW program for a Linux machine?

Solution

To build an executable or program from LabVIEW project in Linux operating system, LabVIEW Professional edition must be used. This is because the LabVIEW Application Builder is only included in the LabVIEW Professional edition.

Its process is similar to how users build the LabVIEW application in the Windows operating system. The user may copy VI in the Windows operating system and use it in the Linux operating system. However, the applications builder on a Windows machine is only able to build applications for other Windows machines and cannot build programs for other operating systems.

Additional Information

When moving to Linux, consult the LabVIEW and Linux OS Compatibility  page to check if your version of Linux is officially supported by NI.
