Issue Details

When I place a VISA resource control on my front panel, I do not see any COM ports available, only "refresh". This also happens when I place a VISA resource constant on the block diagram.

In addition, I do not have the menu option I/O Name Filtering when I right-click on the VISA resource.

Solution

NI-VISA is likely not installed or is corrupt. Check in NI Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) under the "Software" section to see if NI-VISA appears. If it does not, please install it from ni.com/downloads or repair the installation if it is already installed.

Additional Information

If you are still having trouble with this, the Visa32.dll could be missing. Check WINDOWS\system32 for this DLL, and if it is missing, copy it from a different computer where serial communication is working correctly and paste it in this folder.
