Issue Details

When I try to access my NI myDAQ device, it does not show up or is not recognized in NI Device Manager, NI MAX or it says the driver for my device is unavailable. How can I get the NI myDAQ connected?

Solution

  1. Confirm all the necessary software components are installed in your computer as described in the Setting Up Your NI myDAQ  tutorial.
  2. Plug the NI myDAQ into an available USB port and confirm the blue LED lights up indicating that the device is being powered. If the light does not illuminate:
    1. Refer to the Troubleshoot your NI myDAQ article. Essentially, try using a different USB port on the computer, a different USB cable, or a different computer. If the power LED still does not light, contact Studica to replace or repair your NI myDAQ.
  3. Verify that the device displays in the Device Manager by following the steps here .
  4. Open NI Measurement & Automation Explorer. Check if there is any database corruption error message associated to the NI myDAQ. If so, reset the MAX Configuration Database as described here.
  5. Repair NI-ELVISmx and NI-DAQmx as described in the Repair Software In NI Package Manager (NIPM) article.

Additional Information

If you want to use the NI myDAQ programmatically to control or automate measurements, you must also install the NI-DAQmx driver.

If the device is recognized in MAX but you are unable to use Test Panels or see it in LabVIEW, make sure that the NI Device Loader service is running.
