Issue Details

When I try to access my NI myDAQ device, it does not show up or is not recognized in NI Device Manager, NI MAX or it says the driver for my device is unavailable. How can I get the NI myDAQ recognized properly in Windows?

Solution

Follow the steps below in order to resolve the issue:

  1. Confirm that the required software components are installed as described in Setting Up Your NI myDAQ. This includes:
    • NI-DAQmx
    • NI-ELVISmx
  2. Check hardware power and USB connection
    • Try a different USB port.
    • Try a different USB cable.
    • Test the device on a different computer.
  3. Follow the steps in Verify Devices in Windows Device Manager to confirm whether the NI myDAQ is detected by the operating system.
  4. Open NI Measurement & Automation Explorer. If a database corruption error is reported, reset the configuration database using Reset the NI MAX Configuration Database.
  5. Repair NI-ELVISmx and NI-DAQmx as described in the Repair Software In NI Package Manager (NIPM) article.

Additional Information

If you want to use the NI myDAQ programmatically to control or automate measurements, you must also install the NI-DAQmx driver.

If the device is recognized in MAX but you are unable to use Test Panels or see it in LabVIEW, make sure that the NI Device Loader service is running.
