Issue Details

NI makes several different SHC-C68 cables. What is the difference?

Solution

The SHC/SH68-C68 cables have 4 different varieties, D1, D2, D3 and D4.  It is important to note the connector type and recommended devices.

The D1 is a single shielded cable with female D-type connectors and is recommended for Counter/Timer devices.

The D2 has been discontinued because of a change in one of our suppliers and is no longer available, and has been replaced by the D4. If you still have D2 cables you should be able to use them interchangeably with the D4.

The D3 has a 100Ω impedance and VHDCI connectors and is recommended for digital data and control (DDC). This cable is double shielded

The D4  similar to the D3, but is a  only has a single layer of shielding and has a 50Ω impedance .
