Solution
When you open the Devices and Interfaces section in NI MAX (Measurement & Automation Explorer), the software queries all connected hardware and attempts to link each device to the appropriate driver.
If one of the drivers is malfunctioning or times out, NI MAX may freeze. To diagnose which driver is causing the issue, follow these steps:
- Open the Windows Event Viewer.
- Navigate to Windows Logs > System.
- Search for entries with the source NIPALK and review the General tab for references to specific drivers.
For example, the following entry indicates an issue with the IMAQ driver:
[nipalk] Notice: ZwLoadDriver(niimaqk) failed at least once:
iteration #0 status: c0000034
If a driver is identified, reinstall the mentioned driver, restart your computer, and check if NI MAX functions correctly.
If the issue persists, update NI MAX to the latest version available.
