Hardware Customers

  • National Instruments hardware serial numbers typically consist of six (6) alphanumeric values.
  • National Instruments hardware serial numbers are located on a label adhered directly on the hardware itself. In many PXI card cases, it will be a sticker located directly on an IC on the board.
  • If your hardware was shipped in an anti-static bag, the serial number will also be located on a label on that bag.
For reference, the image below illustrates where you would locate the serial number for a PCI Board, a PXI Controller, a PXI Chassis and a USB device.

Additional Information

If you would like to use the purchased software and cannot find your serial number in the shipped software kit because your shipment has not arrived, there is an option to download and install a trial evaluation of most NI software. Once the software kit arrives, you can simply enter the serial number included into NI License Manager to activate the release version.

Note: You must have SSP to download versions later than the past three releases online.
