Issue Details

I disabled Login On Start option in User Manager tab of TestStand Station Options since I wanted to develop my custom Login Prompt window. However, I cannot access TestStand Sequence Editor correctly anymore since the login prompt doesn't appear and, since TestStand is not checking user priviledges, everything is greyed out.

How can I restore TestStand standard login prompt in order to correctly login into TestStand?

Solution

TestStand Station Options are stored in configuration files in the TestStand Cfg directory, which is located in <TestStand Application Data>\Cfg for TestStand 4.1 and later, or <TestStand>\Cfg for TestStand 4.0 and earlier.

In particular, in TestStand 2016 and later, User Manager settings are stored in GeneralEngine.cfg file (TestExec.ini for previous TestStand versions).

In order to restore the default TestStand login prompt, you should follow these steps:
  1. In a text editor application (such as Notepad), open <TestStand Application Data>\Cfg\GeneralEngine.cfg (TestStand 2016 and later) or <TestStand Application Data>\Cfg\TestExec.ini (TestStand 2014 SP1 and previous)
  2. Search for LoginOnStart (for example hitting Ctrl+F in Notepad)
  3. Since you previously disabled Login On Start in the Station Options, you will find LoginOnStart item set to false: modify the configuration file in order to set this option to true
  4. Relaunch TestStand Sequence Editor and verify that the standard login prompt is shown
