Need for NI 9971 Backshell Connector Kit

Issue Details

  • When I go to order NI-9269 (4-Channel C Series Voltage Output Module) online, it lists NI 9971 Backshell for 2-pos connector block (qty 4) as a required item. What is this and do I need to order it?
  • I have purchased NI-9227 for my current measurement application and I received NI 9971 along with it. Will I need NI 9971 for my application ?

Solution

Some C Series modules come with the connectors you need to for plugging in the wires to the module (for example, NI 9976 Front Mount Screw Terminal Block for 2-Position Plug Modules). However, NI 9971 backshell kit is highly recommended, especially when the module is interacting with hazardous voltages or when using the module in a high-vibration application. It provides strain relief and operator protection from high-voltage signals for any 2-position module.
