Can a PXI or CompactRIO Module be used as an EtherCAT Slave?

I want to use my real-time system (CompactRIO, PXI, PXIe) as an EtherCAT slave. Is this possible?

Solution

It is not currently possible to use a PXI or a cRIO chassis as an EtherCAT slave.

There are a few options that are possible to use for an EtherCAT slave

A viable option is the NI-9145 CompactRIO EtherCAT chassis
The other option is the cRIO ECAT S (C Series EtherCAT Interface Module)

Additional Information

EtherCAT slave interfaces require special circuitry to operate properly, as well as licensing through the EtherCAT consortium.
