USRP-2901 Receiver Sensitivity

Issue Details

I'm using a USRP-2901, and I'd like information about the receiver sensitivity.  I'm looking for the following information:
  • What is receiver sensitivity?
  • Is it dependent on frequency?
  • How can I find what it is for my operational frequency?

Solution

The received signal amplitude resulting from the gain setting varies over the frequency band and among different devices.  National Instruments does not specify this quantity because of this variation.  If this information is needed, National Instruments recommends characterizing an individual device under the conditions in which it will be used.

Additional Information

  • The specifications for the NI USRP class of devices are unwarranted
  • These devices are meant for prototyping not necessarily for testing
  • If calibration is necessary you can use this procedure
    • You can apply this procedure using the host based NI-USRP API
    • A version compatible with NI-USRP ships with the driver and can be found by going to Start»All Programs»National Instruments»NI-USRP»utilities. These are the same UHD utilities.
