Solution
This error typically shows up if the NI-DAQmx driver is corrupted and will be triggered when opening a VI that uses NI-DAQmx or when placing a DAQ Assistant. If you are not able to see your NI-DAQmx devices in MAX, these instructions may also help fix that issue.
- Please verify that you have rebooted your computer after you last installed NI-DAQMX. A reboot is typically required before new changes can take place after a driver install or update.
- Check if errors appear in a VI which does not use DAQmx. Open LabVIEW and run a VI that has no DAQmx VIs (ie just simple arithmetic or a state machine), checking to see if any errors appear. If errors do appear, please take note of the error number and statement as they will be helpful when searching for assistance online or calling into NI support.
- If errors only appear when using DAQmx, repair the NI Instrument I/0 Assistant, the NI-DAQmx driver, and the NI Measurement & Automation Explorer as described below:
To repair NI software, go to: Start » Settings » Control Panel » Add or remove programs. Once the list of installed software loads, click on National Instruments Software and click Uninstall/Change. Select NI-DAQmx from the list and click Repair. This may prompt you for the driver CD or location where the software was initially installed from. Repeat this process for NI Measurement & Automation Explorer and NI Instrument I/O Assistant. Reboot your computer when prompted to finish the repair installation.
If this does not resolve the issue, you may need to upgrade to a newer version of NI-DAQmx. When doing so, it is always a good idea to first check the
ReadMe file to ensure the newest driver is compatible with your system as well as your hardware.
