Issue Details

I have an Ethernet cDAQ chassis connected to my subnet and would like to access some modules from one computer and other modules from another computer at the same time. Is there a way to do this?
Can I read in the same data from one ethernet cDAQ chassis on 2 computers simultaneously?

Solution

No. In order to access the C Series modules within an Ethernet cDAQ chassis, you must first reserve the chassis for that specific computer. The chassis can only be reserved by a single computer at a time, so only a single computer can control the modules in the chassis.

To access the information acquired from the chassis on multiple computers, you would need to acquire the data on a single computer and then provide this information to other computers. This could be done by logging the data to a central server, using network-published shared variables, or other methods of sharing data between systems.

You can also connect an Ethernet cDAQ chassis to an IP switch, as long as the switch, the chassis, and the host computer are all on the same subnet.
